5 Questions You Need To Ask Plastic Surgeons in New York by Warren Variames
If you are a New York City resident considering plastic surgery, there’s a variety of avenues you may be using to find the surgeon for you. Online reviews, family and friend recommendations, and even a surgeon you know personally are all great resources in selecting plastic surgeons in New York. Whether your surgeons is approved by them or another entity, they must have one in order to perform any type of medical operation. A surgeon’s qualifications can be checked on the awarding board’s website.
2) How much experience do you have preforming this type of procedure?
There are several different facets to plastic surgery. Just because a plastic surgeon has been practicing for 30 years does not make him an expert in all procedures. This is mainly because they try to become experts in certain areas. Ask your surgeon how long they’ve been preforming the procedure, and if they have past patients they can refer you to.
3) Who will be involved in the surgery and where will it take place?
Make sure you meet with the designated plastic surgeon that will be preforming the operation. In larger practices there will be more plastic surgeons and a larger staff. You’ll want to be certain of how many surgeons and staff will be attending to you during the operation. Some surgeons will have offices separate from an operating location like a hospital. If procedures are done in house, ask for a tour of the facility.
4) What risks and results should I prepare for?
With every medical procedure, there are risks. Your consultation should discuss in detail these risks and any other concerns you may have. Inaddition to the risks, the plastic surgeon give you a near accurate representation of your resuls.
5) What should I expect to pay?
Plastic surgeons will often set their own rates and fees that is representative of the market. Get an exact breakdown of these charges so you won’t be surprised after the procedure is completed. Also check with your insurance agency to see what they will and won’t cover. Knowing their policies can determine the true cost of the surgery.
